The legendary Blue Beat Label celebrates its 60-year anniversary with a very special single release.  

The double A-side single features the 60-year celebration track Blue Beat Is Back in Town by Marcus Upbeat and Boogie Rock by Laurel Aitken, the first A-side ever released on The Blue Beat Label.

The Blue Beat Label is still going independently as it reaches sixty! Established in 1960 and still proudly a truly independent record label, The Blue Beat Label continues to flourish and release great new music. Celebrating 60 Years during 2020.

From Jamaica to the UK, the sounds of vintage ska music reverberate through the grooves of Marcus Upbeat’s music and Blue Beat Is Back in Town is bristling with reggae rhythms and simple melodies that capture the authentic ‘Blue Beat’ sound.

Marcus Upbeat’s inspiration connects him with some of the biggest names in the history of Jamaican music. He has recorded an album with Lee Scratch Perry and The Upsetters and has worked with Laurel Aitken, Prince Buster and many other Blue Beat, ska and reggae artists that he grew up listening to.

Laurel Aitken needs no introduction. Known as the ‘Godfather of Ska’, Laurel Aitken was Jamaica’s first real recording star. He was one of the first artists ever to release a ska record, the first to work at promoting his music in the UK and this track Boogie Rock was the first ever A-side release on The Blue Beat Label in 1960.

The Blue Beat Label 60 Year Celebration Single will be released digitally on Friday 25 September and will be available from Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Google Play, Deezer, Tidal and all good streaming services and download stores.
